The aim of Turkish Folk Music Department is to bring up vocalists and withe artists who are able to evaluate Turkey’s accumulation of traditional folk music in terms of permanency, to transform and improve the point of view to the future without breaking down from the roots. In this respect, to make students who are able to integrate the identity of art they present with stable and instable artistic dynamics , who have academic accoutrement, who are able to accommodate the identity of national and cultural values, reach an accumulation level that they can represent our country’s art of music in national and international platforms is one of the most important aims.
- Instrument Education Art Major
During the preparatory of 5 year long education duration there are Turkish Music Solfege and Theory, Fundamental Music Solfege and Theory, Vocal Training and Profession Instrument (baglama, kabak kemancha, end-blown flute, mey, clarion); in addition to these lessons, after the first year there are, Repertoire, Turkish Folk Music Knowledge, Composition and Notation Techniques, Type and Shape Knowledge, Harmony and Piano Lessons.
- Vocal Training Art Major
In the preparatory class of this art major, in order to gain fundamental skills, there are Turkish Music Solfege and Theory, Fundamental Music Solfege and Theory, Vocal Training and Profession Instrument (baglama, kabak kemancha, end-blown flute, mey, clarion); in addition to these lessons, after the first year there are, Repertoire, Turkish Folk Music Knowledge, Composition and Notation Techniques, Type and Shape Knowledge, Harmony and Piano Lessons. Furthermore, there are computerized notation education in both art majors. In vocal training art major, the instrument that each student choose is aimed to get at least in the degree of accompanying.
